General outline
The annual meeting of the Danish Physical Society consists of plenary lectures and parallel sessions on astrophysics (arranged by IJAF), atomic physics, condensed matter physics, high energy physics, geophysics and physics education. During the meeting posters and new products will be on display. Finally the general assembly of the Danish Physical Society takes place during the meeting (on Friday, June 13).

The meeting is a good opportunity for people working in physics and related fields to present their work, meet old and new collegues and engage in both formal and informal discussions about all aspects of physics in Denmark (and elsewhere of course;-)

Especially students and young researchers are encouraged to attend and present their work.

Time

The meeting starts on Thursday, June 12 at 11 am (11:00) and ends on Friday, June 13 at 5 pm (17:00).

On Saturday, June 14, Women in Physics (Kvinder i Fysik; KIF) have their annual meeting.

Place
Both the annual meeting of the Danish Physical Society and Women in Physics are held at Hotel Nyborg Strand.

Registration deadline
The deadline for registration to both meetings is Friday, April 4, 2003. Registration can most easily be done on-line at the Hotel Nyborg Strand web-page.

Abstract submission deadline
The deadline for submission of abstracts is Friday, April 4, 2003. Submission can only be done on-line.

Shortly after the submission deadline all received abstracts will be available on the web. If you have submitted an abstract please check if your abstract is listed. If not or if you have corrections/additions please let us know (dfs@nbi.dk).

Programme
The meeting programme, which will be updated up to the beginning of the meeting, can be found here.

Contributions which are not selected for an oral presentation or which are submitted as a poster contribution will be presented as part of the poster exhibition. Posterboards are 1,15 m wide and 1,45 m tall (lower edge is approx. 30-40 cm above the floor).

Two postersessions will be held, where at least one of the authors should be present at the poster in order to present the work and answer questions.

Prices for the best posters will be awarded after the general assembly on June 13 (see below).

Poster prize
This year the Danish Physical Soceity has an increased focus on the poster session. This implies an upgrade of the poster prices which, apart from the honor and a diploma, will consist of excellent wine and chocolate and year of free membership of DFS for all students (including graduate students) from the winning poster. Also, the winning poster will be offered publication of an edited version in KVANT.

The criteria which the committee will do its best to use for selecting the best posters are the following:

  • Original scientific content
  • Reasonable level of information
  • Accessibility
  • Aesthetics
  • Structure
  • "Special effects"
  • Also, a devoted presentation could play a role

Student support (free participation)
A number of non-Ph.D. students can be granted free participation. No separate application is necessary – just check off the appropriate box during registration.

In order to qualify for free participation it is necessary to be a member of the Danish Physical Society. This does however not apply for astronomy studens since their free participation is sponsored by IJAF.

In previous years it has been possible to grant free participation to all students who registered before the deadline.

Transportation
Participants must arrange for their own transportation to/from Nyborg. Bus transportation from the trainstation in Nyborg will be arranged at the beginning and the end of the meeting.

When you register for the meeting, please indicate if you intend to use this bus transportation offer.

Language
The official meeting language is english.
